Weekend in Mayfield

Caroline and I took a trip up to Mayfield last weekend. We sure are glad Mimi and Papa have a pool! Autumn and Caroline enjoy each other more and more each time they are together. And my little nephew Ian...such a good boy!

Alton in Memphis

Alton Brown's Food Network show Feasting on Asphalt will feature Memphis, TN, this Saturday night! I love this show (and Good Eats, too) and Alton is my kitchen hero. He'll visit the first Piggly Wiggly and eat at Interstate BBQ, Wile's Smith Drug Store, and Melanie's Soul Food - all good and "off the beaten path" choices for Memphis dining. Yum. I'm really sad that he came through Memphis and I was oblivious. I'll just have to catch him on TV instead.

New dress

Here is the latest creation from my sewing sweat shop. (And, boy, is it ever hot up there! The poor window unit can barely keep up!) This is "Bessie" - smocking, lace collar, lots of piping, puff sleeves, very full skirt, sweet little buttons. I think I did a pretty good job on this one. The next one will be even better! I think this might be the pattern I use for her Christmas dress. Click on the last picture if you'd like to see the smocking up close.

The bouncing ballet

She's about to be to big to use this thing. It's already on the tallest setting. She still has a blast with it, though. I've noticed this week that she's trying to jump on the floor (not in the bouncy, I mean). It's really cute. I'll have to get a video of that.

Hello, hello

She never really talks on the phone, but we pretend a lot. She even props it between her shoulder and ear like I do. She says, "Oh, oh." (Hello, hello.) When Kevin calls and I ask her if she wants to say hello, she shakes her head and runs off. Pushing the buttons is fun, too.
